{"id":5568,"date":"2023-05-17T18:12:05","date_gmt":"2023-05-17T23:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=5568"},"modified":"2023-09-25T23:59:24","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T04:59:24","slug":"buzzard-bombshell-short-kit","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/?product=buzzard-bombshell-short-kit","title":{"rendered":"Buzzard Bombshell Short Kit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is an RC\u00a0version of the classic Buzzard Bombshell, presented in RCM magazine in 1973. \u00a0Oddly enough, on the plan that\u2019s available online the 6\u2033 ruler in the title block is\u00a0longer than\u00a06\u2033, and the fuselage is longer than\u00a048\u2033. \u00a0I\u2019m the one who uploaded the plan to the internet, so when I noticed the anomaly I dug out my paper copy and measured the 6\u2033 ruler, the tire, and the fuselage side.\u00a0 The 6\u2033 ruler on the paper plan is oversized, sure enough, and so is the fuselage side. \u00a0Apparently there was a mistake at the RCM office in 1973.<\/p>\n<p>Intelligent model plane designers always size their parts to fit standard size balsa sheets, so the fuselage should be just a hair under 48\u2033 long. \u00a0I scaled my PDF to 99% to make the big parts a sensible size, so if you have the 909 kb file that\u2019s available online, print your plan at 99% to make it match my parts.<\/p>\n<p>The rib dimensions differ between the wing top view and the fuselage side view. \u00a0I have cut the ribs to fit in 1\/8\u2033\u00a0notches in the trailing edge and 3\/32\u2033 notches in the leading edge. \u00a0Also, I angled the aft spar notches\u00a0so you don\u2019t have to sand the corners off of the spars.<\/p>\n<p>Plywood dihedral braces are not shown on the plan, but dihedral braces are included in the kit for the leading edge, trailing edge, main spar and aft spar. \u00a0I\u2019m leaving the ribs as shown on the plan, without cutting any of them to accommodate dihedral braces. \u00a0I assume that if you\u2019re building a Buzzard Bombshell you are skilled enough\u00a0to trim your ribs and use the plywood dihedral braces as you see fit. \u00a0Also, you cut the cowl yourself because the wood is too thick for the laser cutter, and you probably want to make your own cowl anyway to match your engine or electric motor.<\/p>\n<p>Please specify dihedral or polyhedral wing when ordering so I can include the correct braces.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Jeff Anderson for sending photos of his red, whte, and blue Buzzard Bombshell.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is an RC\u00a0version of the classic Buzzard Bombshell, presented in RCM magazine in 1973. \u00a0Oddly enough, on the plan that\u2019s available online the 6\u2033 ruler in the title block is\u00a0longer than\u00a06\u2033, and the fuselage is longer than\u00a048\u2033. \u00a0I\u2019m the &hellip; <a class=\"more-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/?product=buzzard-bombshell-short-kit\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1685,"template":"","meta":[],"product_cat":[34],"product_tag":[69,61,72],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/product\/5568"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/product"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/product"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/1685"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=5568"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"product_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fproduct_cat&post=5568"},{"taxonomy":"product_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fproduct_tag&post=5568"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
