{"id":5578,"date":"2023-05-17T22:07:44","date_gmt":"2023-05-18T03:07:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=5578"},"modified":"2023-05-17T22:08:00","modified_gmt":"2023-05-18T03:08:00","slug":"das-mini-stik","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/?product=das-mini-stik","title":{"rendered":"Das Mini Stik Short Kit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Das Mini Stik is a half size Das Ugly Stik.\u00a0 The plan from RCM Plans has a several parts that are of unexpected thickness. \u00a0In my short kit I have changed them to what I think are more reasonable sizes.<\/p>\n<p>The 1\/4 x 1\/4 spruce spars and leading edge seem\u00a0rather excessive, so I\u2019m cutting the ribs in the kit for 3\/16 x 3\/16 spruce or bass spars. \u00a0The leading edge is cut for 1\/4 x 1\/4 as shown on the plan, but I would suggest using\u00a0balsa.<\/p>\n<p>The 1\/16 ply fuselage doublers have been changed to 1\/32, and the 1\/16 balsa fuselage sides have been changed to 3\/32 balsa.<\/p>\n<p>For those who aren\u2019t hip, the Das Ugly Stik and its early variants have the fuselage bottom between the fuselage sides, and the fuselage top on top of the fuselage sides. \u00a0I thought I should mention this because it\u2019s kind of ambiguous on the plan. \u00a0Here\u2019s a diagram that shows what I\u2019m talking about.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Untitled-7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3850\" src=\"http:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Untitled-7.jpg\" alt=\"Untitled-7\" width=\"202\" height=\"155\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When you attach the fuselage doublers to the fuselage sides, leave the 1\/16\u2033 gap on the bottom. \u00a0When you join the two sides, the bulkheads should be flush at the top, and there should be a gap below them to accommodate the fuselage bottom pieces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Das Mini Stik is a half size Das Ugly Stik.\u00a0 The plan from RCM Plans has a several parts that are of unexpected thickness. \u00a0In my short kit I have changed them to what I think are more reasonable &hellip; <a class=\"more-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/?product=das-mini-stik\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":3844,"template":"","meta":[],"product_cat":[34],"product_tag":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/product\/5578"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/product"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/product"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/3844"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=5578"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"product_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fproduct_cat&post=5578"},{"taxonomy":"product_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fproduct_tag&post=5578"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
