{"id":5634,"date":"2023-05-18T01:18:01","date_gmt":"2023-05-18T06:18:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/?post_type=product&#038;p=5634"},"modified":"2024-10-10T09:23:09","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T14:23:09","slug":"q-tee-10-short-kit","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/?product=q-tee-10-short-kit","title":{"rendered":"Q-Tee 10 Short Kit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve always been a big fan of the OS 10 engine. \u00a0I\u2019m always looking for a good plane to put one on. \u00a0What if there was a Q-Tee just the right size for a .10 glow engine? \u00a0Now there is. \u00a0It\u2019s a +1\/6\u00a0version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/outerzone.co.uk\/plan_details.asp?ID=1350\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RCM Q-Tee<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve changed a few details to get everything to work out properly.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Top fuselage stringer is 1\/8 x 1\/4, and the bulkheads are notched for easy placement.<\/li>\n<li>Kit includes fuselage side doublers fore and aft of F2. \u00a0Doublers are notched for 1\/16\u2033 ply landing gear plates. \u00a0See photos below. \u00a0After these plates are in place, attach the outer 1\/16\u2033 ply floor. \u00a0This will create a solid foundation for your landing gear of choice.<\/li>\n<li>Leading edge is 3\/8\u2033 thick.\u00a0 Wing spars are 3\/16\u2033 square bass wood, plus shear webs. \u00a0Build the wing on the plan, but there\u2019s no tapered trailing edge stock. \u00a0Use trailing edge sheeting about an inch to an inch and a half wide. \u00a0Leading edge sheeting extends from the spar to the leading edge. \u00a0Add cap strips in the middle. \u00a0Alternatively you can sheet the entire wing. \u00a0In any case, sheeting is 1\/16\u2033 balsa. \u00a0Here\u2019s an illustration of the wing construction details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/qteeribsalt.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3873\" src=\"http:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/qteeribsalt.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 591px) 100vw, 591px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/qteeribsalt.jpg 591w, https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/qteeribsalt-300x72.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/qteeribsalt-500x119.jpg 500w\" alt=\"qteeribsalt\" width=\"591\" height=\"141\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fill the space between the top and bottom trailing edge sheeting in the center section with scrap balsa before you make the trailing edge cutout above\u00a0the cockpit.<\/li>\n<li>There\u2019s an alternate wing available with open structure as shown on the plan, but instead of trailing edge stock the trailing edge is made from\u00a01\/16 x 1 \u2013 1\/4 sheeting on top and bottom. \u00a0Please specify if you want this option. \u00a0If you want to build a standard Q-Tee style wing with tapered trailing edge stock, just cut the tail off of the rib.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/10QTeeribs1alt.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4213\" src=\"http:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/10QTeeribs1alt.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 553px) 100vw, 553px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/10QTeeribs1alt.jpg 553w, https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/10QTeeribs1alt-300x33.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.balsaworkbench.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/10QTeeribs1alt-500x54.jpg 500w\" alt=\"10QTeeribs1alt\" width=\"553\" height=\"60\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dihedral is 2 \u2013 3\/32\u2033 each tip (2.09\u2033) or 4 \u2013 3\/16\u2033 at one tip with the other panel flat on the table.<\/li>\n<li>Another alternate wing is available with ailerons.\u00a0 Dihedral is 1\/2 of the figures quoted for the regular wing.\u00a0 Trailing edge stick is 1\/4\u2033 balsa.<\/li>\n<li>Cabane struts and rails are 1\/8\u2033 plywood to be laminated to make 1\/4\u2033 plywood. \u00a0Rails are lengthened for more rubber band space. \u00a0Find where your wing goes in relation to the fuselage, and attach the rails so you get an equal length extending fore and aft beyond the wing.<\/li>\n<li>Use 3\/16 square for the turtle deck stringers. \u00a0I used leftover basswood spar stock on mine.<\/li>\n<li>Print the\u00a0standard <a href=\"https:\/\/outerzone.co.uk\/plan_details.asp?ID=1350\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RCM Q-Tee plan<\/a> at 117% to get the correct size.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The dandy looking yellow plane in the gallery photos was built by Kenneth Strom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve always been a big fan of the OS 10 engine. \u00a0I\u2019m always looking for a good plane to put one on. \u00a0What if there was a Q-Tee just the right size for a .10 glow engine?
