Tom Mountjoy\u2019s Tailwheel Trainer, also known as the TMTT, is not a scale model of anything, but it\u2019s built like a scale model. \u00a0It has non-square fuselage formers, longerons, and a sheeted fuselage. \u00a0At the time most trainers and sport planes\u00a0had tricycle landing gear and were considered easy to handle, so the idea was to give the scale competition guys a tail dragger\u00a0that looked like it came from the 1930s to hone their skills before the scale contest.<\/p>\n
The short kit comes with 4 degrees of dihedral on each side\u00a0as shown on the plan, or 2 degrees\u00a0for those who don\u2019t like such high dihedral. \u00a0Let me know which one you prefer.<\/p>\n
I think it\u2019s cute, and it\u2019s a good project for anybody who is ready to try building a plane that isn\u2019t just a square box.<\/p>\n
