This is a really cool airplane, but the plan is a disaster. \u00a0Most of the dimensions do not line up from one view to another. \u00a0The rib drawing doesn\u2019t match the wing drawing, nor does it match the wing saddle on the fuselage. \u00a0The firewall and bulkhead drawings do not match the fuselage side or top view.<\/p>\n
However, don\u2019t let that deter you. \u00a0This is an affordable kit, it\u2019s a cute airplane, and you should build one. \u00a0I offer the tail as shown on the plan, or with a Das Ugly Stik style scalloped elevator, which certainly looks cool. \u00a0You can also get the ribs cut for three channels or four (with ailerons). \u00a0I\u2019ll cut out the trailing edges (ailerons) with scallops, but you\u2019ll have to sand it to a taper because I can\u2019t cut it out of tapered stock in my laser cutter. \u00a0Since the bulkheads are so messed up on the plan, I figure the best thing to do is to just build the front top deck with 3\/32 or 1\/8 balsa sheet glued on, rather than making the removable hatch from card stock as shown. \u00a0So I cut the bulkheads accordingly, without the overhanging edges. \u00a0Also, you should note that bulkhead #2 lends itself readily to being drilled for a wing mounting dowel, for a bolt-on wing. \u00a0And maybe you should glue some balsa slabs together and build a German inline-style cowling and add some phony exhaust pipes for a dummy\u00a0engine on the front.<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t let any of this commentary scare you. \u00a0If you\u2019ve built a few airplanes you will have no problem with this one. \u00a0Just stick the pieces\u00a0together the same way you stick any airplane together, and it will work. \u00a0For this price, how can you go wrong?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
