Description
This is one of the lesser known designs by Fred Reese. It’s sort of a pattern biplane, and it flies great with anything from a 46 sport/pattern engine to a 40 FP, based on experience with the model built by a friend. Vertical performance is very good with a 46, but we thought the plane flew best with the 40 FP due to reduced weight.
If built according to the plan and flown from a paved runway or extremely smooth grass, it will handle well on the ground. But on rough ground it has a tendency to tip. So if you have a grass runway you probably should eliminate the nose gear and build it with a tail wheel. Just bolt an ordinary landing gear to the plywood chin plate and you’re ready to go.
