Description
First there was the RCM Trainer, also known as the RCM Advanced Trainer, which is a 60 size high wing aerobatic trainer with a fat symmetrical airfoil. The RCM Trainer Jr is the 40 size version of the same airplane.
The plan shows a diagonal square stick leading edge with notches for the ribs. You can have the standard ribs as shown on the plan, or you can choose ribs that are cut for a 3/8″ non-slanted balsa leading edge. Just build the wing with the ribs, add the top and bottom sheeting, sand the sheeting flush with the rib fronts, and attach a 3/8 stick on the front. Here are the two ribs for comparison.
The RCM Trainer planes published by RCM magazine in the 1970s most closely resemble the Great Planes Trainer XX series (20, 40 and 60). All of these planes were designed by Joe Bridi and are essentially a high wing version of the Kaos with a constant chord wing.
